We thought long and hard about the addition of a blog to NoRegifting.com. After all, who isn't blogging these days? From ChocolateAndZucchini, a wonderful blog written by the extremely gifted and eloquent Clotilde Dusoulier, a 27-year-old Parisian woman who lives in Montmartre and shares her passion for all things food-related, to Yellow Pole, a blog authored by two second-graders and one fourth grader.
But just what were we, the NoRegifting team going to blog about? Let's face it. We're all about cash. We know we all want it. We know we all want more of it. We know we all love spending it. What's more to say about cash?
In an attempt to research the term 'blog' itself, we happened upon a great site, authored by Ryan Kawailani Ozawa, the founder and lead editor of Diarist.net. Speaking to the difference between a weblog (blog) and a journal, Ryan states, "In short, and in my humble opinion, a traditional weblog is focused outside the author and his or her site. A web journal, conversely, looks inward — the author's thoughts, experiences, and opinions. Some sites, of course, do both. So to better see the "perfectly blurred" line, you have to step back a bit."
He goes on to quote a blog expert, "A weblog (sometimes called a blog or a newspage or a filter) is a webpage where a weblogger (sometimes called a blogger, or a pre-surfer) 'logs' all the other webpages she finds interesting." — Jorn Barger, Weblog Guru
Hmmmm - it seems that the NoRegifting blog will fall into the category of 'Some sites, of course, do both'. Although our first intent was to post amusing stories about people's sometimes hilarious, sometimes adverse reactions to our site (a journal), we have since decided that 'logging all the other sites that we find interesting' (a blog) might also be entertaining, and probably a bit more beneficial to our readers.
